Yo! My name is Drew and I'm a gardener.

It all started when I was a kid.

During the summer at my grandparents house, I explored their massive garden of veggies. I remember pulling carrots from garden, rinsing the dirt off with the hose, and eating them while laying in their hammock under the trees.

Kitchen gardens used to be very commonplace and I thought everyone grew up around them like me. Since starting my own garden in Minneapolis years ago, I’ve been surprised how many friends had never seen a what a kale plant looks like or know how good a sun-warmed tomato tastes straight off the vine (yes, it’s an annoying gardening cliche, but it’s true!). You too can be a gardener.

I think everyone should have a garden to grow their own veggies. To me, gardening feels like part a belief in the future, part getting away from technology to slow down, and part rebellion against how culturally we’re starting to forget where our food comes from and what it takes to grow it.

So let’s garden together. Let’s rebel together. Let’s take dumb photos with our turnips. You in?
